There is a specific, haunting silence that fills the room when you crash out of a one-hour endurance race on Lap 2 and just stare at your expensive wheel while the rest of the field drives away.
NEWS FLASH
Without your support, we wouldn't be here today! Here’s how you can help us grow.
Boss takes the wheel: Williams F1 Team Principal James Vowles traded his headset for a race helmet to secure a victory in the Am category at the 2025 Gulf 12 Hours. After a three-year hiatus from competitive driving, the British strategist joined forces with Garage 59 to survive the grueling endurance event and top the podium. Vowles celebrated the win as a weekend he "won't forget," proving he can still execute a winning strategy from inside the cockpit.
Max trades F1 for GT: Fresh off the F1 finale, Max Verstappen is spending his winter testing a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in Portugal, fueling rumors that his racing team is swapping Aston Martin for Mercedes power in 2026. While the four-time champ is itching to tackle the Nürburgring 24 Hours, he might have to pump the brakes on his endurance debut to focus on Red Bull’s massive technical overhaul next season. Until then, he's keeping busy by helping his squad prepare for a potential jump to the Pro class with heavy hitters like factory driver Jules Gounon in the mix.
Rally goes Hollywood: The World Rally Championship is pulling back the curtain for season two of its "More than Machine" docuseries, expanding beyond M-Sport to cover the entire paddock's drama starting November 23. Drivers like Adrien Fourmaux and Takamoto Katsuta are embracing the "Drive to Survive" style treatment, hoping the all-access look at emotional highs and lows will attract a broader fanbase to the sport. The weekly YouTube series promises to reveal the gritty reality of rally week, capturing everything from mechanics' struggles to tearful in-car moments that even the drivers' families rarely witness.
SIM RACING SNIPPETS
Sim racing goes mainstream: The PRI Sim Racing Arena shattered records at Lucas Oil Stadium with 1.3 million social impressions and massive crowds, cementing esports as a legitimate motorsport heavyweight. By mixing pro drivers with influencers in a high-tech showdown, the event bridged the gap between virtual and real racing while generating billions in potential media reach.
Sim racing talent swap: iRacing wasted no time scooping up developers recently laid off from Straight4 Studios following the rocky launch of Project Motor Racing. The strategic hire rescues veteran talent from industry volatility while bolstering iRacing's development team with experts who already know the track.
All in one update: Cammus has rolled out an upgraded version of its powerful C12 wheelbase, featuring a fresh cosmetic makeover and user-requested tweaks to refine the driving experience. The new hardware is available for pre-order immediately, with a special holiday price tag of $539USD to tempt budget conscious enthusiasts this Christmas.

MOTORSPORTS REPORT
NASCAR icon killed in crash: Legend Greg Biffle and his family have tragically died after their private Cessna jet crashed and burst into flames at a North Carolina airport. A close friend confirmed the devastating news, noting the group was enroute to Florida when the aircraft went down during a failed landing attempt.
Changing gears at Mosport: A high-profile investment group led by venture capitalist Peter Thomson and automotive mogul Chris Pfaff has officially acquired Canadian Tire Motorsport Park from the Ron Fellows-led consortium. The new stewards have pledged to honor the track’s deep heritage while upgrading the facility, with a full roadmap for future growth set to be unveiled at the Canadian International Auto Show this February.
A crash course: Former Alpine driver Jack Doohan endured a brutal introduction to Super Formula, crashing three separate times at Suzuka's Degner 2 corner during a test with Kondo Racing. Despite the destruction derby, the Japanese team rushed to his defense and repaired the car just in time for him to log a seventh-place finish in the rookie session. Team bosses praised the 22-year-old’s potential and worked overtime solely to ensure he didn’t leave the track with a "bad impression."

THE SPOTLIGHT
The Wheelman With a Soul: Remembering Greg Biffle
The racing world just lost a foundational pillar. On December 18, 2025, a tragic aviation accident in Statesville, North Carolina, claimed the lives of Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, their children Emma and Ryder, and three others. While the industry mourns a fierce competitor, the community is grappling with the loss of a man who spent his final chapter proving that a "champion's mentality" isn't just for the track—it’s for humanity.
From the Pacific Northwest to NASCAR Royalty
Before he was a household name, Biffle was a kid from Vancouver, Washington, tearing up short tracks in a region NASCAR usually ignored. He didn't just break into the sport; he dismantled the developmental ladder.
The Ladder King: He was the first driver to secure championships in both the Truck and Busch (Xfinity) Series, a feat that validated the "grow your own talent" strategy now used by every major team.
The 2005 Peak: Biffle’s 2005 season was a statistical clinic, racking up six wins and nearly pulling off a historic Triple Crown title.
The Pivot to Heroism
While his 19 Cup wins secured his spot as one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers, it was Biffle’s post-retirement grit that defined him. When Hurricane Helene devastated Western North Carolina in 2024, Biffle didn't just send a check. He hopped into his private helicopter and flew dawn-to-dusk missions, dropping supplies to families trapped in the mountains. He turned a personal hobby into a 100-pilot civilian rescue fleet, proving his "closer" instinct worked just as well for saving lives as it did for taking checkered flags.
A Symbiotic Legacy
Greg and his wife Cristina were a high-performance partnership. While Greg mastered the air and the asphalt, Cristina—a powerhouse with an MBA and a thriving business career—channeled their resources into global philanthropy. They weren't just a racing family; they were a blueprint for how elite athletes can use their platform to drive real-world change.
The void left at Statesville Regional Airport is immeasurable. Greg Biffle began his career as a kid with raw speed and ended it as a man with a relentless soul. He leaves behind a legacy forged in dust, downforce, and a deep, unshakeable commitment to his community.
MEMBER FEATURE
Meet SRN Member Bacon Zelenka
Let’s address the elephant in the room immediately: Yes, Bacon is his real name.
But this Chicago native is cooking up a lot more than just a memorable moniker on the entry list. Zelenka is a legitimate force behind the wheel, having already stamped his authority on the domestic scene with National Karting and Formula 4 victories.
That’s the kind of resume that turns heads, but Zelenka isn't looking in the rearview mirror. He is plotting a strategic export of his talent to Europe, aiming to battle in the ultra-competitive F3 ranks. It’s a massive jump, but given his track record, he’s ready for the aggression of European open-wheel racing.
The Tech Advantage
What separates Zelenka is what happens when the helmet comes off. He isn't just a driver; he’s a builder with a serious maker mentality.
The Workshop: He dives deep into 3D design and printing, specifically prototyping and fabricating his own tools.
The Garage: He spins his own wrenches, working on his car to understand the mechanical limits rather than just relying on a crew.
Between reading, aggressive sim racing schedules, and engineering his own gear, Bacon represents the new breed of racer who wins by out-thinking the grid as much as out-driving them.

SRN RECAP AND UNFILTERED THOUGHTS
What a race! Texas Speed reached out to me and asked if we could help out a friend of theirs who is also an active participant in our SCEL league within SRN. Their friend Ty’s son had an appendicitis surgery had complications only 1% of patients can have a chance at experiencing. We did a community collaboration for community night and ran the Thomas 250, Mini Stocks at Charlotte Oval and helped Texas Speed raise over $1000 to put towards the families immediate expenses. The kid had a blast watching and I will admit, I enjoyed every moment of the event and how it made everyone feel. This is what I call bringing a community together. Catch the whole broadcast here. It’s exciting from start to finish. https://www.youtube.com/live/CaWOJYr4ZTM?si=d2PBUOhgY_r0HIki
