Going forward Spotlight Articles will be on their own directly through the website. Sundays, we want to focus on member features and recaps to keep it short and sweet.
I spent forty-five minutes 'warming up' and qualifying, only to be taken out by a 14-year-old in a Red Bull livery at Turn 1.
NEWS FLASH
Racing redefined: iRacing’s Season 2 update is dropping a massive content haul, featuring the debut of St. Petersburg, a rebuilt Barber Motorsports Park, and the highly anticipated NASCAR Ram Truck. Beyond the new wheels, the sim is receiving foundational physics overhauls for TCR and GTE classes alongside a customizable UI that finally includes live brake and throttle telemetry. With the "Spark" graphics engine and a new Career Mode on the horizon, the platform is proving it has no plans of slowing down for the competition.
Factory status unlocked: Verstappen Racing is officially becoming a Mercedes performance team for the 2026 season. After debuting with Aston Martin, the squad is switching to the Mercedes-AMG GT3 to compete in the GT World Challenge Europe with full factory support. The lineup features pro drivers like Daniel Juncadella and Jules Gounon for a serious championship push. Rumor has it that George Russell has loaded up PowerPoint on his computer again.
Restructuring required: Racing publisher Nacon has hit the brakes on its stock trading as it faces a massive financial pileup. Parent company Bigben Interactive’s failure to secure €43m in bonds has forced the French giant to seek debt restructuring to keep the lights on. With the WRC license and Test Drive Unlimited in its garage, the company is now in a race against time to reorganize with creditors and ensure its 2027 title plans don't stall out. Financial red flag.
🏠 Supporting sim racing means supporting development, teamwork, and the next
generation of drivers. Race To Approval is proud to support communities that value
preparation, shared learning, and continuous improvement—principles that matter just as much in business as they do in competition.
SIM RACING SNIPPETS
Pit crew automated: The Grid Finder Discord Bot handles the heavy lifting by automating driver roles and syncing live event attendance. It’s a free, all-in-one tool for managing liveries and race reminders without ever leaving the chat.
Build your empire: iRacing Arcade is introducing a "Campus Building" mode where players construct and upgrade engine shops and R&D labs to gain an on-track edge. Launching March 3rd for $24.99, it’s SimCity meets the paddock. Racing meets management.
Shape-shifting steering: The Ace Morph ES is bringing modular madness to Moza R3 and R5 setups with a rim that transforms for any discipline. By swapping interchangeable upper and lower grip modules, drivers can toggle between nine unique configurations ranging from drift to Formula. One wheel, zero compromises.
MOTORSPORTS REPORT
Apple’s ecosystem is racing: Apple is going all-in on F1 for the 2026 season with exclusive US broadcasts. Fans get Multiview races on TV, 3D track maps, and even driver-led walks on Fitness+ to bring the paddock into every app. Tech meets the track.
Keeping talent warm: Mercedes is retaining F2 champion Theo Pourchaire in a specialized F1 development role. This strategic move keeps the French star integrated within the team's simulator and testing programs while maintaining his path toward a future race seat.
Case closed: McLaren and Chip Ganassi Racing have finally settled their legal battle over Alex Palou’s 2023 contract breach. While the exact terms stay behind closed doors, the agreement ends a $20m lawsuit. The saga ends.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

The formula movement within iRacing surfacing from videos with Emil Bernstorff, La Broca , TDi99 and Andrew Peddie over the last couple weeks has been to realize the opportunity all of us in the community have to be able to take action and step up to the plate.
As we enter our 4th Season of the Super Formula Top Split Open broadcast within iRacing, we have shifted from a team of one, organizing it, to a team of seven contributing equally through influence and organization, including TD99 and Andrew Peddie who had gone into length discussing where the iRacing formula series needed improvement overall. Included amongst them are active contributors to the Super Formula Series itself, Gerhard Roets, James Burn, Jamie Burn, Marc Ponick and Alan Strovich with Sim Racing Nation who previously organized the last 3 seasons of the broadcast.
The iRacing Formula community is stepping up to the plate, and pursuing a strategic initiative to fund an even larger 3-4 man team broadcast for the upcoming season with Simspeed, who was previously known for their detailed coverage within the iRacing Grand Prix Tour series.
Having the ability to put this series front and center for iRacing through their Weekly Tune-In schedule, distributed to every member of iRacing weekly, we are able to raise our hands and let them know the formula community is alive.
We are bringing on influencers and other sponsors onboard who want to be part of the movement to help get the word out and support the formula series overall, such as Marian Barbieru with GitGud Racing, Tamas Simon from Tamas Setups, Alex Pelea with Syncmesh, Grid Finder, Traxion.gg, Full Push Racing, with many more to come such as Ivan who is with Scorpio Motorsport and current Team Principal over at Scorpio eSports. Ivan is an ex-member of the Force India Young Driver Program who believes that talent can be procured from sim racing to reality, giving drivers in sim racing that path to racing in reality such as last season's superstar Timothy Friis Larsen who is part of their Esports Program now.
To make this happen the Super Formula community is rallying to raise $1,200USD. That capital covers a full 12-week season of high-production broadcasts Saturdays at 2030GMT throughout the season produced by Simspeed. The community aims to showcase the raw intensity and elite quality of the competition. The goal is to create a shared experience that connects drivers with viewers, putting them on the edge of their seats.
Having this series thrive as a premiere spectator event, won't just make it your typical broadcast; it becomes a community invested in a movement and it starts with you.
