There’s nothing more soul-crushing than opening up Motec data just to find out you aren’t losing time because of tire pressures, you’re just fundamentally afraid of the throttle.
NEWS FLASH
Virtual Chaos: A chaotic eNASCAR Coca-Cola series race at Indianapolis completely broke iRacing’s automated systems during a frantic overtime yellow flag finish. Crucial fuel-saving strategies forced the leaders to coast, allowing the pace car to gap the field. This triggered widespread automated black flag penalties as cars passed each other in confusion, culminating in a bizarre 20-car logjam right at the finish line. While the game initially crowned a surprise winner, officials ultimately awarded pole-sitter Parker White the official victory. [FULL EXPLAINER HERE]
Friendly Split: NASCAR driver and former child star Frankie Muniz announced his divorce from wife Paige Price after a decade together and 6 years of marriage. Following a private separation, the couple is parting ways amicably to focus on co-parenting their 5-year-old son, Mauz. Despite pulling the plug on their marriage, there is zero animosity; Price has long put her own dreams on hold to support his racing career. Moving forward, the duo remains completely united as business partners, continuing to run their team, Muniz Racing, together.
Premium Price Hike: iRacing announced its second subscription fee increase in its nearly 20-year history, set to take effect August 18, 2026. Monthly rates will hit $14.75USD, while 12-month access moves up to $124.50USD. Crucially, a single-car or track purchase cost remains untouched. The company points to hundreds of features added and investments like a brand-new graphics engine and single-player career mode to justify the bump. Drivers can log on and renew early before the deadline to lock in current rates.

Young Prodigy: Max Verstappen has added driver mentoring to his expanding motorsport empire, taking 15-year-old McLaren junior Dries van Langendonck under his wing. The Belgian karting phenom will receive sim support from Verstappen Racing Pro Simulation on his road to F1.
Peak Mystery: Pikes Peak’s total absence from modern sim racing isn't due to a restrictive Gran Turismo exclusivity deal, as officials confirmed the partnership doesn't block PC platforms. Instead, high commercial licensing fees remain the primary roadblock.
High-Octane Weekend: NASCAR Canada rolled into Calabogie Motorsports Park for its biggest race of the year, drawing nearly 30 drivers to the 2.8 km circuit. The high-speed action attracted over 3,000 fans alongside regional support series like the FEL Radical Cup.

IT STARTED WITH A TRACK DAY
From catching a cheap flight with nothing but my necessities crammed into my backpack and one pair of jeans, somehow everything came together and SRN had its first official track day meetup where most of our SRN members hopped into a car for the first time to mark their first track day experience. Here’s a short picture recap to get a quick “onboard” of the experience and my first hand experience of tagging along for the ride.

Landed at YYC 630pm

First car delivered to the track 9pm

Second load 1130pm
That night was rough… nothing was turning out the way Rui over at rookieracing.ca was expecting. His vehicle broke down a few days earlier, U-Haul stopped renting trucks with tow hitches and the only other option was Enterprise. We made it work, but unbeknownst to me, all this happened when I got service back on my phone after the plane landed. Shit went sideways and that’s just part of the game. You can’t always have things go perfectly but it’s all for the love of the game. We ended up passing out just after 3am and got just under 4 hours of sleep to experience the track day.

Laid down just after 2am

Early Mornings: 7am wakeup
What sleep? Up and at it. Arrived at the track and kicked off the day.

Discussing the game plan and getting the cars ready for action.
Nothing went completely wrong. Other than onboard cameras and telemetry data issues on one car… here we are. A successful day on track and many memories to come.

It’s time to follow the leader on track.
I met a lot of great people and got to see my friends who make this community something special you can’t quite find anywhere else. It’s a magical feeling when you bring a community together.

Ready or not, here comes the photo bomb.
Now… Check out this onboard from Patrick Mason below. My finger turned purple after holding the phone too tight to get this onboard shot.
