Welcome to my life…

A peek into my currently chaotic sim room as it forgoes a makeover.

Usually the newsletter kicks off with highlights from news throughout the week. However, this time we're going to dive into my personal life and what started as a simple adjustment to my sim rig, suddenly turning into holding a paintbrush in my hand, followed by spending hours mapping out my perfect sim room. Let's jump into how this fresh coat of paint has its own story which may may be relatable to what you or someone else has on the back of their mind to create a desirable space to extract the most out of our environment and race craft. I think we've all been in that situation a time or two before.

Sometimes it comes down to a simple pedal adjustment to dial in a load cell, tweaking the sweet spot on your VR headset, or in my case… a complete rework of my sim room. I realized that clutter in my space translates to noise in the mind. Clearing that out is just like stripping excess weight out of a chassis to eliminate distractions and find that ultimate flow state. My last layout was great, but I admit it was crowded. I couldn't see myself proudly filming videos or other content in that area, something I've felt more inclined to do as our online community has grown. When the VR headset comes off after a grueling endurance stint, the real world should match the adrenaline of the virtual one, rather than shattering the immersion.

So now that I've finally had a bit of time to organize myself and seek a more positive environment, I had an epiphany as I was adjusting my rig. This is no longer just my private retreat; it’s setting a stage to welcome everyone else in. “Would someone feel welcome here if they came by to hang out?” “How can I present myself better as someone who is working on building a community with such amazing individuals everywhere I turn?” and last but not least, “How can I create a space that invites me to push myself even harder to create something meaningful?”

Do you ever continually think about what's next for your space, or how you can improve on it ever so slightly? Drop me a line or tag me on discord and share your story.

I'll leave you on a cliffhanger for now and post a final photo next week when my project is complete.

I can accurately calculate the optimal tire pressure for Spa, but I still treat the microwave like a bomb that might detonate.
