Hey! We’re trying a more visual layout this week. Let me know if you liked it!
The hardest part of endurance racing isn't managing tire wear at 3 AM, it's realizing your teammate chose the wrong time slot and never told anyone until they checked in for their first stint.

How Lucas Hand is Engineering His Motorsport Dream
Most drivers hit the kart track before they can tie their shoes, backed by deep pockets. Lucas Hand took a different route: he hopped in a sim in 2019 and decided to build a motorsport career from scratch.
Fast forward, and the Calgary native isn't just turning laps—he’s dominating the Formula Pro USA championship.
The Unsung Mechanics
Behind every grassroots racer climbing the ladder is a legendary support system. For Lucas, that's his dad. Back in 2020, his dad bought his first sim setup, headed down to a local track, and learned kart mechanics from the ground up just to get his son into competitive racing.
That DIY hustle paid off. With backing from Road 2 Racing Canada, Lucas turned virtual seat time into real-world silverware in open-wheel racing.
The 24/7 Hustle
Winning on Sunday takes more than talent behind the wheel:
Off-Track Prep: Constant gym work, mental conditioning, and pitch deck creation to land critical corporate partners.
Sim Integration: Utilizing iRacing to keep reflexes razor-sharp between real-world weekend sessions.
While driving in a professional series is the ultimate goal, Lucas is all-in on motorsport regardless of the angle—whether that means managing a team, turning wrenches, or calling the action from the commentary box. When he takes off the helmet, he resets by playing rugby, hitting the hockey rink, and hanging out with his inner circle.
